The Last Gasp, 2021, gas-fired stoneware clay head, bushfire ash, blue underglaze, custom glazes, found wooden block on tiled plinth made by the artist. $1350 ($1995 with custom tiled red plinth. One of a kind handmade plinth made for the sculpture. Please note, this plinth now has a couple of minor chips/ damages that are not noticeable, but it has been discounted for this reason)

This work expresses Fruzsi's concern over the climate crisis and ongoing bushfires near the artist's childhood home in the Adelaide Hills. The sculpture features bushfire ash collected from a friend's property at a site of uncontrolled bushfires to further localise the urgency and site-specific concern of this issue.

The head is life-sized, and seeks to capture the final moment of humanity, taking its last breath amidst the climate crisis.

This work is a finalist in the 2022 National Capital Art Prize (Canberra) and the 2023 Blacktown Art Prize (Sydney.)
