The Grief of Glaciers Melting, 2021, gas-fired stoneware sculpture
The Grief of Glaciers Melting, 2021, gas-fired white raku and dark stoneware clay, glaze, $2880 ($3750 with custom tiled blue plinth. One of a kind handmade plinth made for the sculpture)
Height of the sculpture is approx 70cm.
This piece was inspired by the anxiety of melting icecaps and the way the artist experiences grief - through a weakness in the arms and the hands and the 'noodly' feeling in them when powerlessness strikes. Hands and arms serve as the perfect metaphor for how we enact change in the world, (or not) - through our hands and the choices we make.
Fun fact: In 2021 this was Fruzsi's largest sculpture to date.
